About Topolu
Topolu publishes one page per mountain, lake, pass, glacier, canyon and trek: a 3D terrain model, a topographic map, routes with GPX downloads where OpenStreetMap has them, camping and parking nearby, and the place's key figures. Area pages (continents, countries, regions, ranges and parks) map and list every place we have built in them, and lists compare places across the world.
How pages are made
Places come from Wikidata and OpenStreetMap. Each page is built by a program, not written by hand: it downloads the terrain around the place from public elevation models, renders the 3D model and maps from them, and adds what open sources hold about the place. Pages for places that are searched for are built on demand. Figures on a page are computed from the sources it lists, which can differ from official values.
The forecast on a place page is fetched when the page is requested, from the public weather services named under it.
